Sydney Wildlife Zoo is perfectly located in the centre of Sydney at Darling Harbour. It is well located for visitors to Australia that would like to see some of Australia's iconic wildlife but don't have the time to venture into the outback or visit Sydney's largest zoo Taronga Zoo .

Sydney Wildlife Zoo is a fully enclosed indoor zoo, housing a good variety of Australian wildlife. The zoo is divided into themed areas - such as Devils Den (location of the Tasmanian devil) Wallaby Cliffs (location of the Wallaby) Kangaroo Walk- About etc.

Extra Activities

For an extra fee the park offers visitors the opportunity to hold a koala or python. Both encounters come with a souvenir photo.
Keeper talks are scheduled every half an hour from 10am to 4.30pm and an outback show is scheduled at 11.30am and 2.30pm daily.

Stu’s review

This is a small zoo - more like a wildlife park than a zoo, and can be easily seen over a couple of hours. Do take advantage of the online rates if you are planning to visit the park. The entry price is outrageous for what you get, even the online rates are expensive but at least cheaper than the walk up prices. I'm finding the entry prices for a lot of Australian zoos are much more expensive than international zoos - especially zoos in the United States.

One of my favourite parts of the park is the butterfly exhibit. It's the first exhibit you enter and is well themed with plenty of tropical plants as well as being the home to other animals like frogs, snakes and turtles.

If you want a photo of a koala but not keen to pay out a fortune for the pleasure, you can take photos of the koalas located before the entry of the park. Generally they have a couple of koalas on display.

All the glass windows for viewing the animals were clean which is a bonus if you like taking photos.

The crocodile enclosure is spectacular with its waterfalls and plants setting the scene for what I thought was the main attraction of the park - a huge crocodile.

All and all a good place to view some of Australia's wildlife, mingle with the Kangaroos at Kangaroo Walk-About and kill an hour or two.
